fin.

there is a finale to this quarter, finally. i cannot wait for christmas. i will be venturing to san francisco to shop (with the little money i have) and take some wonderful photos, probably. i would also like to start learning german, so maybe i will. although i think that learning a language all by yourself with no teacher might be hard. maybe ill get one of those tapes.

inspiration.

i've been in a funk lately. it sucks. i think i need a lot of inspiration and go out and do what things i love to do. i always think of this quote, i dont know where it came from - "Ask yourself if you are spending enough of your time and energy on the things that mean to the most to you" - and i havent, so i am going to make some changes.

i went and saw annie leibovitz lecture and read excerpts from her new book last night. it was very inspiring and insightful. she is an amazing woman.

we just witnessed history...

"a new dawn of american leadership is at hand"

there are no words to describe my excitement. his victory speech gave me goose-bumps.

Monday, November 3, 2008

zooey deschanel is one of my top girl crushes. she was on last months issue of nylon, and i was so ecstatic! she is so low key and indie, and it is totally fitting for her to be on nylon. i love that magazine! her style is so fabulous, and i love her incredible blue eyes and raven hair. i wish i could be just like her. my other top girl crush is of course the gorgeous french actress clemence poesy.

i am so taking more photos starting now. unless the sun isnt out, which may be a lot, because in that case, my film cameras wont expose right. i just fixed my lomo lc-a though and am so excited to use it! a few rolls came out blank before and so, hopefully it will all work out now. i also really want to use my lubitel and holga more. these days everything is digital, and i myself have a dslr and i love it, but i really want to use film, and maybe someday it will have a comeback :) i just wish i had some subjects to shoot!

me.

i have really not been myself at all lately. and lately means like, the last 5 months. and im guessing its been because the weather has been getting shitty. but i just havent gone out and done anything. i used to go out and take photos like it was my job and i just havent lately. i think i have been engrossed by the bloging world and spend a lot of my time reading them, and drooling over wonderful photography. i just wish i had some friends who were into photography who could inspire and help me. i think i need to meet some new people. my artistic capabilities are drowning with the economic crisis....

on a happier note, i will share some photos i really like.

school time.

school has started and its wonderful. my only regret is that summer is fading and we are heading into autumn. and baseball season is ending. i dearly hope that the twins make it into the playoffs.

i am in love with these outfits. they are old from a vogue (i think). I used to subscribe and i just remember these both. I love natalie's gown. vera wang does amazing things.

i am the iceman

sleepy town ain't got the guts to budge
baby this emptiness has already been judged
i wanna go out tonight, i wanna find out what i got
you're a strange part of me you're a preachers girl
and i dont want no piece of this mechanical world
got my arms open wide and my blood is running hot.

i cant wait to start school again. my school has one of the latest start dates, i am sure of it. once school starts i will have so much more going on in my life. i really can't wait. this is my year, i can tell. the mountains can only do it for me for so long, and i'm starting to go crazy for some city life. i really need a night out on the town with my girlfriends who i havent seen in a while. i feel alone right now, but also i am in my zone lately. since i have so much free time i have been doing things that i have wanted to for  a long time, but just always put off. and i love it, and i will continue to do it.

hot fun in the summa time

so the summer is coming to an end, although i still have almost a month until i resume classes again. just a few things that i've been browsing--

1] the necklaces at mctega are fun and fabulous. a collaboration between two former students (one pre-med, one microbiology). the result is a start of a wonderful jewelry line. i looooove organic chemistry and i would die for one of their carbon chain necklaces...view them here.

2] this strange lamp screams my name and i desperately want it in my apartment. from the design blog.

3] severin koller -- some fabulous street photography. there is so much to look at, he has a wonderful eye for everything.

4] i'm in love with william hundley [here.]

i am new to the blogging sphere and think that the people out there have such great style. as i am a student, i have yet had the experiences that i wish i had, and i am completely unorganized, with about 200 gb of unedited photos just waiting for me. i am also indecisive, so when i get to editing these photos, i change them over and over and end up with 5 copies of the same photo saved in 5 different spaces on my computer. i also save every picture i find on the internet that i like, which is a dilemma after a while with hundreds of photos and having no idea where i got them. one of my goals right now is to get organized and settled.

fm banier

i have been a fan of francois-marie banier for a while and have recently ran into his advertising campaign with diane von furstenburg and model natalia vodianova. his work is stunning. you can find his artwork here, and his advertisements in magazines like vanity fair and also here

trippin'

here are a few things i ran across the last few days. i have trouble organizing my photos, so they're random...

my friend is visiting and we made a few trips. one to port townsend, wa. one of my favorite towns in the pacific northwest--so far at least. we will be heading to portland, which i am excited for. lots of photo ops coming.

i love this song. i have forever. and i just found the video to it. it is exactly what i would want to do with that as the soundtrack.

And this video and song are also on my fav list right now. so strange, but i love her and him. or rather she & him.

i am reading pride & prejudice right now. i love the most recent movie so i finally thought i should read it. plus, its jane austen...

the house

so right now im stuck in the mountains, with no friends nearby and trees all around me. i really love it out here but being out here for this long is making me long for the city, and dislike it out here more and more everyday. and i dont want that to happen. so i've made it my duty to find all the beautiful things that i love, and that no one else notices. here is one of my favorite photos from this adventure so far.

the woman

Shes beautiful, modern and not quite like anyone else.
There's an inner knowing and ease about her. A
Confidence. A comfort. She calms the chaos and
invigorates the mundane. She sparkles when she
talks, when she listens. Maybe shes in love, maybe
shes just happy. Shes the new classic woman, sensual
and ever so in love with life.

life

"life is about the choices we make, the relationships we have, the time we spend and how we spend it. life has many opportunities to feel, both love and loss, to feel hatred and sorrow as well as compassion and happiness. life is about what we want and what we need. to make a difference, good or bad, to someday leave this world having made your mark. 'all the worlds a stage and the men and women are merely players, they have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his life will play many parts.'"

so i have a giant list of books to read and i want to try to get through some of them this summer, since i have nothing else to do. i find that although i seem to have all the time in the world, with crappy weather and no friends, there is actually a lot of nothing to do. the internet these days allows you to do everything while doing nothing. and with the way that i collect websites and names and random things, i could spend the whole day online. but i am going to not do that anymore. this will be hard since i am trying to go through all my things and most of those things are websites or online shopping i want to do. lots and lots of things i cant afford. bummer. so i will read, and satisfy my mind with words. haha, cheesy i know but i love reading.

blindness (currently cracked open on my night stand)
pride and prejudice (along with some other jane austen)
the last lecture
the twilight series
the wings of the dove
the historian (reread...one of my favorites)
out stealing horses

those are just some that are more recent. i have been collecting a list of books to read for some time now and think that it would take my whole life to read them all. but thos are some currently on my mind. i just finished pete hamills forever, which was really good once you get into it. its a hefty 600 pages but once past about pg. 80, you're hooked.
